Winter Driving......????
As an owner of a Z28,in the snowbelt, this winter will be my first one there...any comments from any Z28 owners in the snowbelt on how this car handles or should I just put it away for the winter...Tony
hey if you have another car you can drive for five months put it away, other wise just drive slow in snow and ice and make sure you have a lot of traction on your back tires. I live in Indiana were it does snow al ot but my 94z actually handles very well in snow, it is usually the ice that gets you.
Good avice! Also remember that the positraction is not a good thing in clare ice. Both wheels will break traction at the same time and the rear of the car will slide sideways, usually towards the curb.
My z28 handles ok in the snow. You just need to be careful not to get on the pedal too hard so you don't break the tires loose(on snow or ice). I actually have 3 sand bags that I stick in the back if it's snowy outside, it also helps to keep the gas tank full.
Also helps a lot if you have snow tires or all weather tires (M&S rated) with a lot of thread left. Stay away from summer type tires that use big chunks of rubber with no sipes, they are murderous on ice.
Buy a cheap winter car and don't risk wrecking Your Z. I grew up in Northeastern Ohio and always had a junker for winter driving. Don't forget about salt damage to Your nice car. It'll be much cheaper in the long run to get a clunker.
to buy a z28 and drive it in the snow is not what you want to do,listen to unclebill and by a junker. 2-3 winters with salted roads will really do a number on your sheet metal. please dont ruin it.
