dumb question but i am a newby to the lt engines as this is the first 4th gen i have ever messed with
so could somebody tell me the difference between an LT1 and an LT4

The LT4 also has a different computer program to take advantage of the upgraded internals.

So, if you were to replace your heads, cam and intake on your LT1 to those from an LT4, you wouldn't have the full effect without a new tune also.

Also the lt4 is a 4 bolt main vs a 2 bolt on the lt1

nope, lt1 came with the 4 bolt in the vette and some camaro's

See I was told that the first yr z28 93 model used left over vette motors from 92 then when reviews were stellar from the general public demand GM switched gears and started producing for the 94 yr lt1 with the 2 bolt alter

I'm sure that's an old wives tale but I can dream can't I lol!

only way to tell if you have a 4 bolt is to drop the pan. all block id numbers are the same for the 2 and 4 bolt.
