to be honest 1990, you really shouldn't. i mean the horsepower difference between a 383, 385, and 396 is so negligible that it really isn't worth the extra cost(assuming the power parts are all the same).

well i'm still trying to work out the ridiculously rich condition. i've been in contact with bryan from pcmforless and he's been a huge help and giving me all sorts of ideas.

we hooked up a scanner to the car and noticed the pulse width for each bank was completely different from each other. one bank was reading 1.9, the other was reading a 3.8...so bryan suggested that either there's an exhaust leak(which i haven't noticed but i guess i can look closer), or whichever bank has the higher pulse width has a bad o2 reading...the o2 sensors are brand new, so i have to believe that my solder job on the extensions is messed up on one of them so i'm going to be buying pre-made extensions and give that a shot.

ps...holy crap its fast, lol
