Default just bought a 350

hey guys, im new to v8's and just recently bought a 87 rs 5spd with the 305. About a week ago my step dad gave me a 350 out of his suburban with only 10k miles on it. I was wondering if it was a direct swap? do i need a knew tranny or can i just use the one in the car already?

not real sure its not the original engine tho, its a crate, so im guessing it will go in without much modification? and also how much do u think it would cost to be installed?

it should just drop right in. are they both tbi engines? if so, then you will have no problems dropping it in. you may get a shop to just swap the engine and let you figure out the wiring for about $500 or so, and more if you want them to wire it up

thats exactly what the engine looks like so im guessing its a tbi. im pretty sure its not carbed. And also, do u think im gonna need ne modifications done like ne pumps? wiring? or a new tranny to handle the power

Hey torque im doing the exact same thing as you are swapping in a gmpp 350 out of a suburban into my 91 rs. If the camaro is tbi you will be all set because the suburban 350 is almost guaranteed to be tbi. I would suggest just carburating the 350 and not have to worry about anything else along the lines of computer, sensors, etc. Thats what im doing.

i am also doing this swap this summer and the best way to do it is to go carborated as the guy befor me said, that cuts out all the wires for the computer. old school is still the best.
