Default trans???

got a few questions about trans options. if i do a manual trans do i still need a stall converter with the le2 set up? what parts do i need to do the swap beside trans, and clutch pedal ??? what about puttin a manual valve body in my automatic is that a decent option? and would i still need a stall converter if i went that route?

Manuals don't use torque converters, that's only an auto thing. And check hawks thrid gen for the trans swap. For about $2,200, they have a kit that comes with the T56 trans and almost everything else to do the swap. I'm actually going to be doing it by the end of the summer. I have heard that manuals use different torque arms than auto so that might be the only thing the kit doesn't include, but its pretty much a full conversion kit.

switching to a manual trans in these is almost as hard as switching from v6 to v8. you will need the under hood wiring harness, under dash wiring harness, various sensors are different, ecu is different, console is different, depending on what yr there are a few more things that would need changed. go here and look over what they have, im happy with the trany i have, Performance Transmissions and Parts from PATC 700R4 AOD 4L80E 48RE could have had the converter locked all the time and may have it changed to that. i would not go with the manual shift though. just to much of a hassel.

imo they are for race only. manual body means you have to shift for the trany to shift upshift and downshift. if its in drive/4th it stays in 4th even when you stop.
