tranny problem

Default tranny problem

well this car hit a tree and the axel has been moved and the driveshaft has been moved from the accident, well my q is that when i lightly tap the gas i get movement in the ujoints i think, it also might be movement in the tranny. i looked under the car and when i push up on the driveshaft the driveshaft moves with the connection going in to the tranny. i heard it might be grears in the tranny or bearings???? need help, o yeah i got auto

Ok. now it makes more sense. Check all mounts. subframe mounts, engine mounts, transmission mounts, torque arm bushing on the transmission tailshaft, torque arm may be bent, check all links hoding the rear axle in place, check for bent wheels. Chech for cracks in transmission & bell housing. If you have insurance, let the estimator assess the damage, and don't try to fix anything before a work list is written up.

it sounds like your u-joint is busted on your driveshaft.....

I work at a transmission shop, I can't see what u got or actually see it, but if what your describing is what im thinking, that is the problem... plus a little bit of end play on the outputshaft(side to side) is normal.

you need to take out the driveshaft and hammer a new one in and the old one out.... or you could take it to a professional....
