Default Tranny dying?

Not sure where to post this so here goes. I have a 95 Z/28 with an auto tranny the car is basicly stok but for exhaust and a little cia kit. If i manually shift the auto tranny and I have it in first and start moving at a normal accelration and go ip to like 15-25 mph then gun it the car will skip whats left of 1st gear and go right into 2nd even thos 1st still has a good ways to go before it woukld top out. Any ideas?

ideas? here's one. the car's computer is doing this on purpose to keep your *** on the road and not in a ditch. what exactly do you think should happen when you do this? THE TIRES BREAK LOOSE. in case you were unaware: LOSS OF TRACTION IS A BAD THING.

Whoa easy man, whats the the hostile-like-help? People need to chillout on this forum.....Anyways, its your traction control probably, maybe your clutches start to go, in that case, take it to a tranny shop, they'll have to pull it out and look at it, its the only way your gonna know the problem for sure. Keep us posted.

Tend to agree with Jack. My 1999 SS lights up a sign LOW TRACTION if I over accelerate in 1st, but would not hurt to check at the shop and the owner's manual for speed ranges for different gears

If you have traction control and you want to spin your wheels, you need to turn it off, otherwise the computer thinks the car is out of control and needs help. The speed the car can go in each gear depends on the rear end ratio. Regardless, the transmission is computer controlled and no matter where you place the selector lever, the computer will shift the transmission up or prevent it from shifting down once certain RPM limits are reached, This is done to prevent damage to the engine or transmission.
