Default thinking about some more horse's ;-)

Ok so I'm ready to start adding some horsepower to the z... its a 94 lt1 so I know its obd1 and idk if that's going to be a disadvantage or not. now I don't have a lot of time with the car down as it is my daily driver... the mods I have know are its got the k&N CAI, msd coil and a borla catback exhaust into a centermount exhaust tip.. not really a mod but its got 315 sticky tires on the back. I was thinking of going with some short headers ( I live in cali so I got the stupid smog stuff to deal with) but what do you guys think? I appreciate it.

I was also thinking... would putting longer rocker arms over stock ones be the same as putting a bigger cam in it?

be a good idea to change the springs retainers guide plates and go with hardened pushrods. the stock LT1 cam with 1.5 rockers pushes .447/.459 and .477/.490 with 1.6 rockers. thats a pretty good jump. if you dont like the noise you can use stamped 1.6 rockers.

I wouldn't have any clearence problems with 1.6 rockers would I? Pushrods could stay the same length but just go with hardened ones? What kind of setup should I go with the Retainers and guideplates rockers and pushrods? And I don't mind the noise.

depends on what rockers you get. aluminum are bigger. pushrods would be a different length, look here

these would be a good choice but overkill.

summit has some good guideplates.
may as well switch to 7/16 rocker studs and go with 7/16 rockers.

heres what i used, check my garage for the full list.

ARP 134-7103 7/16 rocker studs
Trick Flow TFS-21407100 Pushrods, 5/16 x 7.100
comp cam 1305 roller rockers 1.6 7/16 pro magnum

and yah it changes the lift by quite a bit.
the stock LT1 cam with 1.5 rockers pushes .447/.459 and 1.6 rockers push .477/.490

your not going to get the choppy sound like a 112 overlap. will help with bolt ons. get between 8 and 13 hp gain depending on the other mods.
