I was curious as to if it's possible to switch from an automatic transmission to a manual in a Z28? Anyone ever done this before?

 

anything is possible, i wouldnt reccomend doing this because it takes a lot of money and work to do it, you will need to install a clutch pedal, new wiring, reprogram the cpu

 

In that case, what would be a good AUTO trans that you would recommend. I have read that the stock 4L60E isn't all that great.

 

well the 4l60e comes with all auto z28/ss camaros, it works fine for me i havent had any problems and mine is 13 yrs old and has 132,xxx miles

If I were you just stick to the atuo because I thought of doing that to my Z but I just got a new trans with a better torque converter and fixed gears... it works just as well as a manual trans... total cost for me was 2,500... its not that bad...

 

Who did you go through for your tans? Any suggestions?
