starter problem?

which one,,, i picked a powermaster PWM-9502 from summit, had to shim it to get it to work right.

Its a powermaster. The only numbers is on a sticker 9600

thats a starter for a gen 1 sbc. you need one for a lt1 gen 2 sbc.

Seriously. How the heck did it work before. Thats crazy. Dang those arent cheap i bet.

so it worked before the motor was changed and its on the same motor? that is strange. yah it shows as for a gen 1 sbc. i looked at em but the app wasnt right so i went with the other. they are actually less than stock if i remember right.

I just looked it up on my phone. I have been trying to mount it with the solenoid uo with the bat post facing the engine....it mounts the other way...lol. Im such a idoit!

Well...i confirmed it. Starter works fine if you put it on correctly. Wow i feel dumb. Ive never seen one with the battery studs facing out. Lesson learned and will not happen again. Thanks for you help guys. Tomorrow will be the first time i get to hear it run in person, instead of watching videos of it...lol

cool. now let us hear it. lol. it looked like that is a universal style starter so im not surprised with the mishap.

Sounds pretty good. But how were you able to keep the engine running with the car on it's side like that?
