spun a bearing
The proper way is to pull the engine first and dismantle it, examine it and measure everything with a mike. The problem with spun bearings is that at times the shells overlap each other and cause all sorts of other damage. Such as chewed up journals, stretched rod and main caps, etc.. If have that sort of damage, and you just throw in a new set of bearings, the same thing will happen again in a very short time.
I bought a 95 z28 that had the same problem. had 2 bad bearing and caused allot of damage on the crank and the cam. i ended up putting a used engine in there. if your gonna get it fixed i would take it to a machine shop and do it the right way .
im not sure on our engins but on old 350's if u spin a bearing the machine shop can grind out the maulled up part and but in diffrent sized bearings such as .10 over all the way to .30 over i think but u would just have to do some research at your machine shop and see what they could do... im sure it would be a cheeper then a new lt1 block
