Default Looks like I spun a bng. 350 to 383 now?

Well guys, after several days of avoiding the unavoidable, it seems like my mystery noise is a spun bearing. Realizing that the only proper way to fix this is to also pull the crank and have her machined (which means I gotta pull the motor anyways) Im wondering if now is a good time to convert to a 383. I see kits going for about $600 on Ebay, so Im wondering, is a 350 to 383 conversion easy, realistic, and worth it? (I was dissapointed by the 305 to 350 swap, I wanted more 'neck snap' in the throttle) What complications should I expect, or is it just as easy as replacing the crank, rods and pistons?

you need to get the block bored 0.030" over and honed, possibly have to get the mains line honed, and the machine shop will have to notch the block so the crank counterweights will clear. in order for the shop to do that, they will need the rotating assembly (crank rods pistons and main caps) and the stripped down
block.

Good to know, guess its not just a plug and play operation. The block is already .040 over, but the other machine work will get expensive? How much does this type of milling usually cost?

if your block is already 40 over and you just put a ton af metal in it chances are it needs to be bored out again and if ur 40 over and machince it again ur gonna have no cylinder wall go get a diff block

Did you spin a rod bearing or crank? And you miss took this noise for a lifter! Scott scott scott scott scott[&o]
You spun a rod bearing did it mess up the block? It surely damaged the crank. Check out rotating assemblies from summit. Just stay with 350. You want neck snaps change your rear gears so it takes off quicker.

The lifter noise was a whole other issue. I just happened to spin the bearing (I think) on the same day. All indications are that I spun the bng, but I have yet to prove it. Ive described my symptoms to a few people and they all say a bng. Is there a way to tell without pulling the pan? Trust me, Im still hoping for the whacked out harmonic balancer scenario but this time I dont think Im gonna get as lucky. Im just going off of what people are telling me and planning for the worst.
