Service engine soon light
Today I had a check engine soon light that came on steady so I drove it home. Started it briefly 3 hours later without any lights coming on. Are there any codes to pull, if so how, and where do you interpret?
Thanks

Go to Auto Zone and they will scan your car for free if the car is ODB2, if it is ODB1 you can do it with a scan tool or pay a shop to do it. Get a maintenance manual for your car and the codes and their descriptions will be shown.
If the SES lite stays off, don't worry about it.

OK, I have read other cars codes using a jumper wire (12 Pin), but cannot this time. I bought a Haynes manual a according to it and the info from my car I have a OBD 1 with a 16 pin port. I am having a little trouble renting or buying a scanner that is under $275.00.
I have had the service engine soon light come on a few more times. Since the first post I have put about 30 miles on this car. Each time it goes out after returning home. I would like to see what codes are stored.

Most of the time when the service engine light come on it will be an oxygen sensor. Alot of places will not charge for the computer hook up if you do the repair at their shop. I hope you find the problem and get that camaro back on the road.
I bought a Haynes manual to find out that I have an OBD 1 and a 16-pin plug. Luckily I was able to get it scanned. Found a 77 code. I priced an EGR solenoid, and now I'm hoping to get one from a junkyard. I am a little limited with my tools for a few more weeks. Has anyone found something simple like a short in the wiring to the 3rd solenoid going to the EGR valve?
