my fuel lines under the hood got to close to the exhaust and melted so im wondering if the doorman nylon fuel line unions are good enough. i was having opti issues and i moved the lines to check connections at the coil and module, when i got the car to start i bee lined home and forgot about the lines. im lucky a few more mins or seconds and i would have lost fuel pressure, maybe burned the car up. so now i need a opti and both lines. i cant find the lines for sale at any auto parts stores so is it safe . they say non repairable right on em. maybe i can replace the lines with rubber fuel line ?

 

It is possible to repair them but due to their age it will be difficult. They tend to get real hard. Also you need a special tool. The doorman stuff is is pretty good but check with GM first it may be cheaper if it is still available. The cheapest why I know to repair the lines is just go to a auto parts store and check out the Help! section. They sell a lot of different connection in different configuration. Connecting vinly line to metal lines does not require any non stadard tools.

Also is you have a REAL parts store near they can make up a line if you take your old line in. They should have the tools needed to make up the line. Most chain stores (autozone or advanced) can not do this.

I didn't feel 100 percent comfortable with it so I ptu hose clamps on as well. It's held fuel pressure and hasn't leaked for over a year now and survived a cross country road trip so it does work.

 

You can get that at any auto store.

 

i have seen a repair kit that has a short section of hose and the end on it to hook into the fpr. cannot find it now.

 

thanks guys. ill see if autozone can make one or not and check gm down the street from me. im going to have to replace my opti first though and im living paycheck to pay check right now. i just spent $400 on a 92 ford pobe gt turbo 2.2l for a new commuter so im strapped. now that im workn the camaro will finally get some lovin soon

 

is the piece left long enough to reach the fuel rail if you reroute the fuel line under the brake booster. you would need to dissconnect the two lines at the connection under the driver seat and pull the fuel line out and reroute it to come out under the brake booster. normally this mod would require you to wrap the fuel line around the booster to use up the excess line but in your case you will have to cut it and reconnect the fuel rail connection to it.
