Default Hard start

So I'm ironing out all the kinks in my engine, neglect courtesy of the last owner. But one thing that's been bothering me is that after I changed the fuel pump, MAF sensor and starter, the engine takes a while to start. Before it would start right up, no matter how long it was sitting, even after months. And now it takes About 4-6 seconds to start. The starter works fine, and the fuel pump primes. When it's warm, the engine starts up right away MOST of the time, but it will also do it when its freezing cold...sometimes. But for the most part it's hard. After it starts up i can smell fuel for a little while after and it doesent seem to make any difference opening the throttle or not. I will test the fuel pressure this weekend. It's mostly just annoying, especially when my girlfriend is in the car giving me the "your car is breaking" look when it's NOT lol also I don't want to keep running the starter for that long and wear it out sooner than it needs to be. I don't ever plan on selling this car. Any ideas?

Pressure checks out good. I heard something like this could mean a failing opti. True or not?

Don't even think about the opti till you have low resolution codes.
