i havnt been on the site for a bit but it seems that my rockers are making noise. i have an lt4 cam and some better springs but as of now im just using the stock rockers and pushrods. its def up top of heads it aint the header gaskets for sure. now beings i dont have the 1.6s would that be why. even with valve covers off and car ideling you can hear it coming from rite there. car runs pretty good other than the slight tapping from both heads. any help would be appreciated

well, you could always adjust them. There are 2 methods. One is the "correct way" and the other is the good ole fashion way which is how i do it. Engine running, loosen until you get noise (if there isn't already noise) and then tighten until noise goes away and then 1/8 turn more

i have always done the final setting with the car running. different lifters will call for different settings. the compcam 1.6 rockers called for 1/2 turn, my gm service manual calls for 1 full turn for my 93. my lifter supplyer told me 1 turn but when i mentioned what comcams recomended he agreed that would be the best way to go. so i have them set at 1/2 turn plus a nuge. the lifters on the car now are noisy but thats the way they are. can you track which lifter is making the noise or is it all of em.

There's a good chance that's your problem right there. That method (TDC #1, adjust the 8 valves listed, rotate 180 and adjust the other 8) is fine, AS LONG AS you plan on following up with the "engine running" method. All that initial method is good for is to get the engine running, not running at it's best. I've experienced it more than once where after that initial adjustment, you can slowly rotate the engine and find loose valves again. It's not a good "set & run" method.
Here's the right way to do a static adjustment. It also shows what goes on with the cam geometry, and why it's so important to adjust the valves while each lifter is on the heel of the cam
(the "Chilton's way" doesn't give you that): http://www.centuryperformance.com/ad...h-spg-149.html
