Default reprogramming the PCM

How hard is it to reprogram a car's computer, would it be worth it to send it somewhere to get it done or buy the software? I dont know too much about reprogramming, and I dont want to get out of my league. Help please!

This is a job best left to an expert. Besides being able to change the programming, you need to know why to change something and how much to change. It is very easy to bollix the computer up so that the engine won't run, or worse blow itself up. The good thing is that you only need to reprogram only after you done some major mods. You will get best results by taking your car to a tuner shop with a dyno.

You can start with a place like PCM For Less, ( http://www.pcmforless.com/ )They have an exchange program where you send in your PCM and they return it to you programmed according to how your engine is built. Not as good as a dyno tune, but better than just changing chips or using a hand held programmer. The price is also cheaper. As for a dyno tune, it depends where you live, as there are not too many of these shops around. They are also the most expensive as they have to charge by the hour, but they can squeeze the most out of your engine.

It is not hard to reprogram if you know how. but if you don't you could hurt the engine. It does help the engine with getting to that sweet power spot.
