Reprogramming and LT1 PCM
Ok, i've heard rumors that it's impossible to program or get a performance chip for the LT1. Is this true?
Also, i have seen posts on this forum about getting the PCM sent out and reprogrammed for certain mods such as HEaders, heads, MAF sensor, ect.
In other words, if it's possible to program the computer to respond better to simple bolt-on mods, I would greatly appreciate the advice

The PCM can be programmed. However, the PCM, except for the one used in 1993, does not have a program chip that can be replaced. There is reprogramming software available, but fi you don't know what you are doing, you cam mess up the PCM so that the engine won't run. There are hand held programmers that prevent you from totally messing up, and there are tuners that will reprogram your PCM via mailorder. The best and most productive way is to find a tuner shop with a dyno that knows how to preogram your PCM.
