What is everyone's opinions on gear? I have a 96 Z28 6 speed. 137k miles

I do mostly highway driving which has steered me away from changing the ration in the past. But I wanted to find out more about them.

1. How bad would it effect highway driving ? (I usually set the cruise on 55 in 6th gear)

2. Since the RPM are gonna be higher in each gear, can cruising on the highway wear the motor out fast ? Since the RPM will be a couple hundread higher ?

3. How high will the RPM be in 6 gear at 55?
