Just replace the pinion oil seal and you will stop the leak a cheap fix for your problem. Poor excuse to make a gear change in my opinion.
Anyone know how much a shop would charge to change the seal? i really dont want to try it myself i dont want to screw up.
About $100.00 more or less.

i called a local shop, and they told me that most likely the bearings to the pionion would be bad, could i possibly be changing new bearings too? also i call another local shop and they want 399 labor plus parts, there is a salvage yard that sells a differential for 400 dollars should it be worth fix the one on the car

I think you are getting a line of BS. Pinion oil seal failure is a coomon occurance on 3rd gen cars and bearing failure would be very, very rare. Avoid these rip off shops with there no see estimates.

ok, but wat if the bearings are loosing need to get lubricant and they dont seem to have any, i haven't put any oil to the differential which is kinda stupid but i will be putting some in there this weekend, cuz i dont want any internal damage such of gears and stuff, i'll just keep shoping around to see what kinda deal i get
