the scanner isn't going to tell you about the misfire
I have an actron 9145 and you can get the newer version too. GO to amazon.com and you'll find a deal
First you change the spark plugs and wires if they are old or questionable
that costs around $50
then fire her up. Does it miss when cold before open loop?
If not, does it miss when warm in closed loop? If so, then it's probably your O2 sensors and those are located in the collector of your headers (you aren't running stock exhaust are you)
if it does miss when cold, then it's not the ICM, it's probably not a cable and it probably is the opti.
But, check fuel pressure before jumping into the ignition just to either eliminate it or find that it's fuel related. I've not seen a bad fuel pump cause a "miss" however some folks misdiagnose an ignition miss with a stumble/stutter etc
