Default Question about exhaust

Alright I posted this in the exhaust forum but no one replied so I figured I would give it a try in this section. So it goes

I have a 96 Z28 and Im looking to put 80 series flowmaster exhaust on there plus y-pipe so I was wondering if I had the exhaust work done and bought a y pipe later on down the road would it bolt up to my new exhaust or would it have to be welded on? Any info would be appreciated Or do I even need a Y pipe to help the sound any? Thanks!

i suggest you go through stainless works and get the yipipes through them while you are doin your exhaust. wel lthat's my opinion because i found that worked weel for me. i have a96 ss and just be edelbrock shorty headers on and the stainless works y-pipe and flowmaster american thunder exhaust kit sounds great now.

Default RE: Question about exhaust

Figure out how you want to run the setup, and put it all on at the same time.If your looking to save money, just buy your headers, muffler, and y pipe (optional) and take it to your local exhaust shop, let the guy there run the exhaust piping the way you want it,and use the flowmaster muffler on it,it will save a little money as opposed to buying the complete flowmaster exhaust
