Default Power steering hose

Any advice on how to change power steering hoses and U-joints? Thanks for all the help from fellow Camaro owners.

When you change the u=joints the back of the driveshaft where it connects to the rear is bolted up. Un-bolt it and then the driveshaft should slide out of the rear of the trans with the yolk still attached. Once you have it out, look at the clips(they are little metal rings with a gap in them) on the u-joint just inside of the ears of the drive shaft or on the outside of the u-joint caps depending on the car.. Try to pop them off with a screwdriver. After that you will need a wooden dowel (or an old socket, etc.) to hit with a hammer on the u-joint where it enters the driveshaft, yolk, and the piece that bolts to the rear. You knock on one side at a time until you can get the end of the u joint to stick out enough to slip the cap of one side off with plyers or your hands.

How Does a Car Drivetrain Transmission Universal U Joints Work - 2CarPros

the second picture shows what the caps and the zirk thing is the grease fitting, which you just thread in the proper place. It is a good idea to use a grease gun on the fittings. The u joints might already be pre-greased idk. When you put the new ones in remove the caps and slip the u-joint in, then put the caps back on by tapping them gently from the outside. Then install the clips in the proper places on the u-joint. Once you have them in slip the the driveshaft back in by sliding the yolk(which you should have also put back on the driveshaft before) over the tailshaft of the trans(from where you slipped it out of before). Then bolt the piece that you unbolted from the rear (should also be installed on the driveshaft before you put the driveshaft back in the car) back onto the rear, torqued to the books specs. It also probably wouldn't be a bad idea to use loctite on the bolts. Installing a New U Joint | eHow.com this video should help.

you would do good to pick up a factory service manual. much better than an aftermarket book. here is what you want can find them cheaper. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995-...ht_1972wt_1167
heres volume 1 only http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-Ch...#ht_2648wt_941
