Default possible header seal problem?

ok basically i started with just cheap header gaskets trying to seal up a leak, i didn't the leak sealed so i decided to take it uptown to get it over with, well i get a call back saying that my headers arn't for my car/engine and they cannot seal them because they are "bigger than the ports on the engine". it has me puzzled because they were sealed when i bought the car, and i am being told it is impossible to seal them. i havn't picked my car up yet but i do know that they are BBK headers and they are, i guss, bigger than my ports and are round. any suggestions, because i really dont want to buy new headers.

There may be a problem with the header flange having warped and the gasket cannot be made to seal. For sealing purposes the size of the tubes does not matter, as all the sealing is done by the flange compressing the gasket. Have you tried some good OEM or soft copper gaskets? It may help if you doubled them up.
