possible blown head gasket?

allright. well to be honest. i didnt know what a steam pipe was. had to look it up, and it looks like its doable, just not easy. and i guess to help me plan. if i do decide to get the heads done, im gonna get a new cam with it. would it be easyer to drop the motor to install it? or can if even be done with the motor still in the car. iv hurd it can be done but the front cover and all has to be removed. sorry i ask alot of questions. just trying to get helpful tips befor i find everything out the hard way.

yep cam change is a whole nother level. gotta take the timing gears off and i think the radiator has to be taken lose or removed.

Once you remove the whole front of the engine and the radiator, there should be enough room to get the cam out and back in. Don't even try to do it with the radiator still in place, there just isn't enough room.

It will still be a tight fit, but it can be done. There is a video somewhere on youtube where a guy shows how to remove the cam with the LT1 still in place and without dropping it.

^ lol....he probably doesn't have more than a nick or two on the cam bearings!
I was waiting for him to break out a pipe wrench for a moment there.

yea, i was gonna remove it all. and atleast i know it can be done. i just really dont have a method of raising the car off the motor, so i was wanting to get around that.
