I would like to get something like the hypertech power programmer. I am looking for something that will let me delete the air pump and other smog junk, and the vats. In addition to tunning. Is there something that will do this that is a hand held unit or would I need a laptop based software program. If I need the laptop setup what seems to be the better ones to go with?

The Hypertech won't do all the things you want done. You can get those done by a professional tuner, or purchse a PC program such as LT1 Eidt, or TunerCat (I believe it is a free download) and learn how to use them without screwing up ypur car.

 

I am not worried about screwing up the programming by doing it myself, I used to tune and re-program eproms for my honda. So long as the program that is used is user friendly then it's easy....it's when you have to use a hex editor that things can go wrong really easy.

 

If you have a 93 you will have to reprogram the EPROM (MEMCAL) chip. If you have 94 and up you can reprogram the PCM via the ALDL diagnostic port.

 

I snagged a 95 with t-tops last weekend, and now I am trying to make a list on what I want to do to it.
