opti failure

Default opti failure

hey my 93 z28 has started to act up. this morning i was driving to work. i was trying to pass this car up so floor it which i manage to pass the car but after slowing down and giving it gas the car was bogging or really sluggish unless i floor it then it smooths out. at one point from a complete stop i the car backfire and smooth out again. i was wandering if this the opti that is going bad. any help please would be appreciated.

I suppose it could be. hell, pretty much any time an lt1 acts up we assume opti. other things to check could be clogged cats, fouled plugs..... try to eliminate a few options before buying an opti

I know along with a messed up valve train my opti was messin things up too. when i bought it the water pump was leaking and even missing bearings and i got a new opti and wp and then when i sold it the newwater pump was leaking again and the opti was going bad.

man. this is getting worse. it starts stumbling around 1500 rpm to 2000 rpm. anything after that the car pulls strong like it is suppose too.

usually when optis start to go bad they cant handle the high resistance, but yours sounds like youre having a low resistance problem, has it thrown any codes ?
