Unhappy EVAP Failure

Trying my best to fix up a pretty restorable 92 RS 305 5 speed. For the first time in 10 years it failed EVAP test. Tank was almost empty, is that a problem? Mechanic not helpful. Any Ideas are welcome. Thanks

try a new gas cap. im not sure on the 92 but the evap may be the same as the 93. there is a evap test sticky in the lt1 section.

be a good idea to pick up a facory service/shop manual for your yr. check the vacumm lines for damage or one may be unhooked. microkid may have some ideas for you. i could move this thread to the third gen section if you like.
