You can use RTV in place of an actual gasket if you wanted to. But laying down a good bead in that cramped position would be a bit more difficult. There's nothing wrong with how t.i.g. did it.

you can replace the pan gasket without dropping the k frame. gotta undo front motor mounts, lift the front of the motor as high as you can and then turn the crank so theres room to get er out. yep gotta take the starter out, easier if oil cooler and filter are out, oil dip stick tube needs to come out, flywheel cover need to come off. the pan gasket is re useable if it hasnt hardened from heat and the bad part to seal is the corners where the front cover, the pan and the block all come together.

lol....considering Gene Simmons' wife must be pumped up with a lot of silicone, I guess that's a fitting comparison!

I slid my felpro gasket on the pan without raising the engine or moving anything....slowly though. Still no leaks from the pan gasket. But my wp seal got janked up...my marker tool SUCKED apparently.
