Exclamation Possible Oil Leak and A/c Leak question.

Okay guys, I have another problem...... looked under my car and saw some oil under the harmonic balancer on the front/bottom of the engine area. I just had all my gaskets replaced when I had my new engine put in about a month ago. My ac system is leaking bad also.. Like super fast. I added some dye but I need some freon for the compressor to engage. Could the oily stuff be from the a/c compressor being busted? Any way to test? Just need some advice on what to do. Thanks for always helping out!

yes the a/c has oil in it so if your leaking that bad it could be your culprit.

there's not that much oil in a compressor for it to have worked it's way over perpendicular to the balancer unless you have spidey senses and can see that good (keeping in the spirit of the new release coming and I hope the 2 lead actors are good this time)

is it engine oil?

how much is there?

does it drip after every time you drive?

if the answers are yes then it's a seal and the wp and opti are coming off

or, just live with it and keep oil with you. If it's just a small drip your opti will probably be fine

question- you mention that you had an engine put in. i gather it was a used engine. Did they replace the rear main seal before re-installing?

Craby- I do not know for sure. I had my car parked in the garage and there was an oil puddle on the floor after I moved it. Was under where the a/c compressor was.

Torque- Yes main seal was replaced. Just a small prob 4by6 in. puddle. It kinda looked like engine oil but was more sticky My engine oil level is good also. I did have a guy refill it and if he put to much oil or freon could it cause that to happen?

theres 8 or 9 oz's of oil in the a/c. if you drained the whole system in short order i would suspect the a/c

does it keep leaking after every use?

you are not going to see a continuous oil puddle from the A/C especially if you don't use the A/C

are you sure that it's not power steering fluid or maybe even tranny fluid from the cooler?
