Default Rough running after car wash

So I just washed the car, and took it for a ride to air dry it. On the way back home the exhaust started popping and when I got to a stop sign the rpms dropped to about 400 and then snapped back up to 1k. Struggled the whole way home and I just shut it off. Is it possible that I ruined the opti somehow? I took a video, I'll try and upload it here in a minute.

did you only wash the car or did you spray under the hood as well trying to clean the bay/engine? Honesty is required

if the latter, let the car sit for a day without running and then see if it improves.

Optis hate water, as it makes them sick and die.

if you sprayed the engine then you will want to take the plug wires lose at the plug and dizzy cap and dry. take coil wire lose and dry it. check connections that you can find for moisture and dry them. scan the computer for trouble codes. like pete sayin the opti does not like water and an old opit really does not like it. use electrical grease on the connections and plug wire ends to help seal them.

I didn't spray the engine bay down. I did clean the wheel wells really good though, and I was spraying water in there.

borrow someone's car, lift the hood and let the opti work on its tan for a day

if it still run like doo doo, it's new opti time (live and learn)

you then need to decide which opti. I've read that a few people used the Chinese one resold by Chandler and so far so good. For $100 i'd try that myself the next time i need one

may as well do the wire check in the dark. find the darkest place you can (pitch dark) and start the motor, open hood and look around for spark coming from wires. how old is the opti? i think you just did wires and plugs not long ago, what plugs did you use.

The opti is about 7 months old. I replaced it with a unit from Oreilly that has a lifetime warranty, so if it's bad Ill just swap it.

And I did the plugs at the same time. They are NGK Iridiums. Also put msd wires on, but I didn't put anything in them? Do I need dielectric grease?

The Coil and ICM are the originals I think.
