I doubt that you could suck the oil out. I imagine the oil is scattered all throughout the inside of the opti. Take the opti apart and use electronic cleaner to clean the opti and shutter wheel. I know I have read where the sensor itself rarely goes out, and several members have spares from teardowns.

why are you changing the oil pan? If you mean the oil pan gasket then ok I understand because with the timing cover off you are going to end up ripping the gasket anyway (unless you are one lucky guy)

Can you borrow or rent an engine hoist? Its so much easier when the engine is lifted some. You can change the oil pan gasket with the pan still on.

ok lol, ill ask, how can you change the pan gasket with the pan still on??? you need to drop the front of the pan to get the front cover off. dont have to lift the motor to do that. you have to lift the front of the motor as high as you can to get the pan off.

asked and now answered

lift engine as much as you can with mounting bolts out

drop pan, remove old gasket

cut one side of new pan gasket

put gasket onto pan

rtv where you made the slice

put pan back on

so far, 1 year and no leaks for me

piece o cake
