oil leak

Default oil leak

anyone else's lt1 having any chronic oil leak problems?

its coming from somewhere up front near the distributer i havent had the time to look really good but thats the plan for this weekend any input would be greatly appreciated

cam front seal or the timing cover or lower intake gasket. fans could splatter oil up from the oil pan has a leak and it poolin up in any crack it can find

pull the radiator fans if u cant get a good enough look removing the air box and stuff.that be my first thought

they make a dye that you put in your oil that will help find the leak. my guess would be the pan seal. you may want to replace the opti i know water is bad for them so i'm guessing oil is no better.

check the intake...lt1's are known for having the intake start leaking...usually its from the front but its very possible its from the front

yep i had it coming from both front and back of the intake and the trany was leaking. tightened up the trany pan bolts, new intake gasket, new oil pan gasket (pita) and front cover seals and im not leaking a drop. i dont think i was losing oil from the front cover but thats were i thought it was coming from. so when i took it off i messed up the pan gasket so had to replace it.

thanks guys i actually thre some dye in there this afternoon at work so we will see about it tomorrow
