Default Oil getting in intake

there is a hose that runs from the passenger side valve cover to the side of the throttle body or intake. I know it is there to vent crank case gases but when i pulled the hose off to replace it because there was a lot of oil in the hose. is it normal for a lot of oil to go through this hose? if not what would cuase so much oil to get in it?

It's not abnormal, with a worn high mileage engine that has blow-by issues (compression pushing past the rings and pressurizing the crankcase). Make sure your PCV valve isn't clogged, that could also be the cause.

its a freshly rebuilt motor has about 1500 miles on it. i took a very very quick glance at the side that sits on the valve cover and it doesnt look like a pcv valve it just looks like a 90 degree elbo. It deffinetly didnt rattle so if it is a pcv it is bad or maybe someone changed it out for a quick fix and never replaced the pcv. ill look at it better tomarrow.

thats the air intake for the pcv system. there should be a baffle on the inside of the valve cover to stop the oil from spattering. if you used aftermarket covers or used roller rockers it may be gone. in any case the air should be going from the tb to the valve cover so there may be issues in the pvc valve. its on the driver side of the intake.

there is a crack in the molded hose that runs to the passenger side intake i ordered a new one. would that cause the issue? ill pick up a new pcv valve as well they are cheap.

its not a ton of oil getting up there but im having hard starting issues and im sure its liked to the iac. i think the oil is gumming all that throttle body up as well as the iac. i would guess about a table spoon or two is getting in there every 1000-1500 miles its not even measurable on the dip stick.
