well its not the knock sensor. oh man, i almost did the same thing. i put the gears and chain on and was working hard at the time so it sat for a few days and when i got back to it i rechecked it and found it was off. if i had put the cover on that night i would have been in the same boat.

Thats it im freeking selling it i have exhaust comming out of the coolent again and just blew the heater hose out of it. Its running better than it was but im so over it

 

sorry to hear that. so it blew a head gasket or something is messed up with the heads. where did you get them? i suppose it could be a cracked block. where are you? i have a complete used lt1 that ran fine when i took it out. not sure i want to part with it though. was thinking of stroking it to a 383 and have it for backup

 

im in CA i think im gonna find a 97 just like it to replace it :/ i am affraid of obdII tho i liked the idea of flashing tunes to my obdI but i hate the open vents on the opti the way im looking at it the car needs atleast 2500 in work to get it relyable it has a knock at take off that the computer was picking up on and i am not sure if its the block or if its b/c of heads

 

i wish i had the obd2 in mine. lol. they are tuneable. im still learnin on the tune thing. i having someone else do it, want to get the bucks to change to a fast system first. then dyno tune.

 

i have a couple 97s i hope to look at this week end i am not sure what parts i want to steal off of my current car befor i sell it i do have a brand new msd coil and cap and i have a brand new electric waterpump and i have the front brace and some after market sway bars but i also have to think about whats worth my time to pull compared to cost just to rebuy it but im gonna take a $ hit when selling the car so i have to think about that aswell

 

good luck with your search. make sure you have someone with you thats experianced so if you love a car thats not a good deal they can drag you away. lol.
