Hey guys, well this is my situation.

96 Z28 6 speed.

I have no 2nd gear... We are thinking its the gear itself. It goes into the gear, but only rev's up like you have the car in Neutral. It doesn't pop out or anything, and their was some grinding when the gear went.

So I can get my gearbox completely rebuilt for 1200-1500 $$$. But i just put $3000 into the car last week, I was wondering if you guys think it is the gearbox, plus is their any hurt to driving it for 2 weeks until its put away again for the year and then I could do the gearbox and clutch and all next summer.

if you have chunks of gears floating around in the gear box its going to do damage if you use it. best to not use it or get it dealt with right away.

 

i agree even tho your getting it rebuilt the pieces could cause damage to the case itself
