Default New Intake Manifold?

So I've got the usual oil leak out the rear of my intake manifold. But while I have the manifold and valve covers off is there anything under those that I should replace or change to prevent or prempt future problems and changes? For example, would putting a whole new larger/nicer intake manifold do anything for future moding or even current power? Is there anything else I could replace? In the end I hope to send the heads off to Loyld Elliot and have him rework them... That might not even be relevent. Thanks for your advice.

Kyle

If you put on a manifold with ports that are larger than the ones on the heads you are going to wind up with a power loss due to the flow turbulence caused by going to from big into small. If it were the other way around it would probably make no difference. As usual, things need to be matched for best results.

i'v heard good things about that air gap manifold by edelbrock but its not going to prevent any issues plus i havn't seen a dyno w/out the heads+cam package so who knows what if any gain you'l get... might be something to look into if your wanting spend some cash and upgrade performance wisetwards something you don't see much of. youcould be the first kid on your block to have one

You're not going to make any extra HP over the stock intake without some serious head/cam work and probably a 383. Then you may...may be able to use a slightly larger intake, but just having a larger plenum isn't going to do anything for you, you really need larger ports since the LT1 intake is pretty much a hollow piece of aluminum with 8 holes...

Man if you're putting a bigger intake manifold on your car you need to port the heads to see any performance gains.
