I think the price of the opti is more what it does and not what it is. You can buy a Mallory Unilite Dizzy for a SBC for less than a stock opti. Like why in the world is the cap and rotor more than the opti unit itself? it does not make good sense to me.

I need to do that to my intake mani. Was it tough to remove? What kind of paint did you use? Did you just cover those strips when you painted it, or did you polish them afterward?

it wasnt too bad getting it off maybe 20 min or so and its just crappy .98$ flat black paint with really good clear (like 7$) for the strips i painted the whole intake then sanded it down to a nice shinny finish it looks pretty much chrome (i cleared after i polished the strips so they wont corrode)

i was kinda surprised to see theres only 1 mani tho

you don't mind if I copy you on that stuff, do you?

Another under-hood mod I want to do is rerouting my spark plug wires over the valve covers. If you replace your plugs and wires, I suggest doing that too. Routing the wires the way they are originally is a PITA, let me tell you.

like this, only with more masculine colors:

only if you give me credit everytime you talk about them ... i dont think over the valve covers is a good idea theyd hit the exhaust manis

edit: just saw the pic but ya that might work but i have stock manis and they would burn... i did find a set of headers on cl for 50$ but all he knows is that there for a chevy 350

yeah, I forgot about stock manis. I can see how that wouldn't work without headers. Those headers you posted won't work. The driver's side header on the LT1 has some crazy pipe routing to clear the steering column.

like the intake and valve cover work. looks way nice. did you take the shield off the underside and clean under there. had lots of gunk on mine under that. also make sure the air passages that the iac feeds to are open.
