Spanaway is just off I-5 Near Tacoma. If you can find Joint Base Lewis/McCord (or Fort Lewis and McCord AFB) you just about found me.

massey the guy at oreillys said that the opti you were talking about is made for the 95+ and doesnt work so well with the 94 because 95+ is OBDII so i ordered a brand new acdelco one off ebay for 79 with the cap and rotor for the 93-94

the 95's were kind of weird...they're more of an OBD1.5, sort of a hybrid between OBDI and OBDII.

Wow, that interior..... disgusting!

I'm looking forward to what you do with this car. Your 'vert was very tastefully done, I'm sure this one will be the same

Basic, the difference between opti's isn't an OBD 1 or 2 thing, there's a design difference. 1992-94 LT1's had the first design (unvented) opti. The opti was updated in 1994.5 to the second style, vented and attaches to the cam a different way. Going by your splined shaft and lack of venting, you have the early style, same as in my 92 Vette. There is no other difference in the two opti's. In 1996, cars went to OBD2, and for the LT1, GM added an additional crank sensor in the timing chain cover (for misfire diagnostic purposes), but the opti stayed the same. So the LT1 had two different opti designs, but three different timing chain cover designs.

I dont know what the guy at your O'reilly's is talking about I just sold one for a 93 Impala SS the other day and it was the non vented type GM20 was the part # i believe. He was happy that I saved him $200 since he didnt have to buy a cap and rotor.

My bad it was GM22 for the part number. Here is the link to the part

Richporter Technology GM22 - Distributor | O'Reilly Auto Parts

That should be all you need to get the right one. I stock it on my shelf but then again I have a pretty big store. You should be able to get it same day or first thing the next morning.
