Is my fuel pump bad??
1997 Z, been sitting for a WHILE... ran fine before i stopped driving it.
The gas went bad, smells like ammonia or something. I siphoned out as much as I could..
So, when I put the key in and turned it forward, I couldn't hear the fuel pump priming....
Suspecting there to be a problem, I pulled the fuel line before the filter in the following pic:

My logic being that when the fuel pump primes now, it should shoot some gas out on the floor.. Turning the key, no gas, at all.
So, I found the fuel pump relay as in the next pic:

I tried jumping it there with the key on and off, no gas, no pump operation..
After reading the forum a bit more, I decided to try to fuel pump jumper wire under the hood, coming out of the harness..
I jumped that to 12v with key off and on, no pump operation:

So the question is... is there anything else I can do to check out this pump??
Like I said, the last time I ran it, about a year ago, the car ran fine.. I Definitely should not have let it sit this long.
Also, if I get the pump working, or replace it, can I jump the fuel pump to pump out the rest of the bad gas??? Or just get out what I can and fill the tank with fresh gas and hope the mix is strong enough?
If I have to replace the pump, I was thinking of doing it from inside the car, through the top of the fuel tank like I have seen some people do it here. I am just looking to get this car running again!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. THanks.

Having just gone through this myself, I can pretty safely say you've done everything necessary to check the pump. It's gone, Get it replaced. :P I went from inside the car too, it's about half the price, and if you don't plan to sell the car anytime soon, it's worth it.
I find it kinda strange thatthe pump itselfwent from working fineto completely deadafter sitting a while.Could happen, but? There is another thing you didn't check yet. Under the car, way above the muffler, there is a wiring harness that comes through the body and goesto the pump. In that line is a plug, and it is possible that it's corroded. Worth a look anyway, plus you can tap off at that point to try hot-wiring the pump too toeliminate any wiring problems questions.
BTW, maybe I don't have to tell you, but be sure to block the car up this time before crawling under it.

Ok, I'll take a look at that wiring and the clip there.
PS there are jack stands in further in front that u can't see in the pic.. I Just left the jack on their lightly in cause I fixed the problem to let the car back down.

Well, I'm fortunate in that my mom works at the garage where we had it done. It ended up being ~250 dollars for a Delphi, and all the labor. I don't know for sure how long they were working though. Next chance I get, I'll ask.
if you have bad gas or whatever in the tank u better take the tank out and drain it. while your at it u can check or change the pump. like 69 says make sure u are getting power to the pump. if u are then the pump is probly bad. did u check all the fuses? did u check the relay plug for juice to make sure your getting power to it.
