Default LT1 Not starting all help appreciated...

Ok guys I have a 94 z28 that came factory with the lt1. I bought the car with no motor or tranny. I put a 95 lt1 and tranny in it. I hooked everything up and nothing happened but some clicking. At a closer look I noticed I hooked three wires to the started and it required two. therefor i took the third one off which i later heard was a ground that goes to the oil pan. after that i tried again and still the clicking just got a little louder. I am going to take the starter off and get it tested but was just wondering if there is any other options to consider if the starter is good. Thanks for your help.

one is your ground, one is the hot cable from the battery, and then the 3rd probably comes from your ignition switch. My advice is to get a hold of a starting circuit diagram for the 95 and look through it to make sure everything is where it should be.

there should only be 2 wires going to the starter a 4 gauge power (red)and a 18 gauge signal from the key (purple) the starter is grounded when you bolt it to the block

worst case motor is frozen, best case bad wire connection that needs a good cleaning. in between case battery is no good.
