I can see your point. Guess I was being hasty. Just fixed the exhaust leak, may have a small one on the passenger side but its barely noticeable. Also theres a sensor in the down pipes after the collector point not before like I had said earlier.

Letting it warm up right now- now signs of smoke like earlier. Going to set the rockers once I see if my temp gauge is working.

set the rockers and it runs much better. Also no more smoke from the exhaust.

well that's good news

keep an eye on everything

monitor your oil level and color

monitor your coolant level

re-tighten the bolts in a few days

i had set them cold just to get it running. I think they were to tight had to loosen them a bit to get them to clack. maybe I set them on the wrong #1 cylinder stroke? Its running a lot better but doesnt have that kick when I get the pedal down. Before it would break the tires loose no problem.

When i set the rockers am I trying to get rid of the clacking then a half turn or am I trying to get them to clack (louder sound) then tighten til thats gone, then get rid of a quieter clicking?

also when you say to retighten the bolts you mean the exhaust right?

losen till you get a clack, tighten till clack stops, tighten 1/4 turn, tighten 1/4 turn for a total of 1/2. you have roller lifters and they are a little noisy so i think thats what your hearing.
