Default possible blown head gasket???

ive did some searching on here and i cant find any post with people having the same exact problems i am having, so i am going to tell you what is happening to me,, when i start my car it smokes really white smoke out of the exhaust, and it does this for as long time when it sitting and eventually after about 30 min or more it will stop, but it goes away faster if i am driving it, but when i push the gas it seems to come out alot more, and i looked under my car and noticed a small puddle of coolant,so i check my levels and they were LOW, so i put some in. and my motor also makes a popping noise from around the back right spark plug area kinda like its missing but i replaced the plugs and wires, so i dont know if thats what it is. any help would be good. thanks

Probably a blown head gasket. Do a compression test and check your coolant for combustion gases to make sure.

There is a Block test kit. I know napa has them. It has a blue liquid in a tube with a suction device. It will tell you if any combustion chamber gasses are getting into the cooling system. Like from a blown head gasket or such.

Its' not hard. Its not like a fourth gen where half the motor is under the top of the fire wall.

Yea, sounds like a blown head gasket or cracked head......pretty easy to replace on a Saturday if you get all the parts before hand although we all know that never works...you'll go back to the parts store like 10 times....lol

It might also be an intake gasket, seeing as how you have to put on a new one anyway when you do a head gasket, try that first and see if it fixes it. I see your same problem all the time at my dealership. Head gaskets are not hard at all, just make sure that you check your heads while you have them off the car with a steel straight edge for warping (you can't have more than .005"). You can also do a cooling system pressure test to see if it is the intake, if you don't see any thing, then proceed to a compression test or leak down test. This is not a hard project to do but you have to make sure that things go back together perfect or you are wasting your time. Take pictures, notes, mark things, whatever you have to do to get it right. Good luck and keep us posted.

i will try that stuff but before i do ill tell you some more stuff i found out. ok so my coolant in the resevoir was low so i went to fill it up and i noticed there was something that looked like metal in there, about the size of a quarter,, so i tried to get something long enough to grab it but i couldnt find anything, an since it was floating i just figured i could go ahead and put some coolant in there and maybe it would float to the top of that and then i could possibly grab it then, but i put coolant in and it didnt come to the top, so i stupidly said to myself, well if its been in there this long than it should be fine for a little while and i left to go to my friends house to see if he had something to get it out with, well i went to a stop sign and the temp was at lowest mark,, then my the time i got to the next one, a block away, it was over half way and almost to the red marks, so i pulled off the road and turned the car off and you caould here something metal bouncing around and hitting things and eventually it stopped and i got out to see if it was that thing that was in the resevoir and it was gone, and i noticed something floating on top of the coolant that was blue, so i got a screwdriver and pulled it out and it was the little inside thing to a pop bottle,,i have no idea why it was in there , i didnt put it in there. so i decided to take the car home as quik as i could and when i started the car the temp was back down and it didnt go up anymore,, but i also have to fill my coolant back up everyday after i get home from school because its all the way down,, and i dont know where its going because there isnt but about 10 drops on the pavement under my car. and i dont know if this has to do with a head gasket, but my last topped off tank of gas only got me 76 miles and then i ran out and my friend had to get me, and it said i still had almost a quarter of a tank,. and i have never gotten more than 80 miles out of a tank of gas, and i can put five gallons in and onle get 30 miles before im running on fumes, it sucks because my mom soesnt believe me when i tell her it sucks gas and she thinks im going all over. and i just put new sparkplugs, and wires, and a air filter in so i dont know whats going on. man long story sorry.

Mom is always right! (dont tell my momI said that) If you can only put 5 gallons in then there is a problem there. Have you checked your oil to see if there is cooant in it? If your coolant is low in the engine and full in the bottle it will get hot. After you shut it off it will burp and take the coolant from the bottle then it will cool.
But if your loosing coolant it is either going on the ground or ending up in the oil or making it out the exhaust.

i can put more than five gallons in, but i only had 10 bucks on me so i only put 5 gallons in. and i looked at my oil and it seems to be fine, it has a dark color and it doesnt look like there is any coolant in it, and where it drips is around the transmission area , closer to where the exhaust Y's .
