Default LT1 hard start

I tried to search to no avail.

I am working on a 1996 Z28 w an auto trans. The car is fairly low mileage for a '96 (55K) and sat for a few years in a garage before my buddy bought it.

Problem is it is hard to start. It cranks and cranks and when it does start it seems really fat. It has fouled a couple of plugs in the year he has been driving it. What do I need to be looking for?

Sorry for my first post to be asking for help but that is how I got here. If it had a carb on it, I could tune the crap out of it. LOL He plans on modding it and he's not to internet savvy so I'll most likely be lurking around here for a while.

Well, I had the same problem on my Z... it turned out to be the fuel pump. It is simple to check if the fuel pump is working or not... I'm sure you know how to check so no need to specify what to look for. You can also check all the spark plugs and wires and fuel filter... other than that... I'm not too sure what it could be, but I'm pretty sure more people will have better advice... I hope this helps

If, as you mentioned ,the mixture is rich, there are a few things to look at:
1) Scan for trouble codes
2) Using a scanner check to see that the ECT and AIT sensors are reporting the right temp to the computer.
3) Check fuel pressure and operation of fuel pressure regulator using a FI pressure gage.
4) With scanner check that the MAP and MAF are reporting sensible readings.
