Ever since I got my 1996 camaro z28 it was reading low oil pressure. When it’s cold it reads normal but when it starts to warm up it goes low it hangs on 0 until I accelerate and then it falls back to 0. I took it to GM they found some minor leaks that where fixed and replaced my oil sending unit. They put in new oil gauge. But after all that I just have a new gauge that still reads low. Any suggestions?

 

How many miles on the engine? It appears the bearings, or even the oil pump (unlikely) may be worn out. You can go to heavier grade of oil as temporary fix, but eventually it will need a rebuild. I realize you had it tested by the dealer, but you may want to verify the oil pressure with a mechanical test gauge, before getting too exited.

 

i have 130 000km on it. and i have already switch to thicker oil. im not totally sure but i think the dealer did use a mechanical test guage. i think i might just take it somwhere else and see what they say

 

Make sure they test the pressure when the engine is fully warmed up, so that the oil is thinned down.
