95slvr brings up an interesting point. As you go to lower gears using the same type rear end, the pinion gear has to be made smaller in order to get the additional multiplication (no room to make the ring gear larger). This weakens the pinion gear making it more prone to failure.
As for intake manifolds, if the ports on the intake manifold are larger than the ports in the heads, the abrupt change in size causes excessive turbulence in the intake port.This may result in a power loss instead ofthe expected gain. If you want to use such a combination, port matching work is needed.

if you doin heads and cam look into advanced inductions they do some great work and hav alot of very impressive results!

ummm...doing heads and cam can make the car less streetable and will effect mileage as well. and lloyd elliott does great work with heads and stuff as well
