what the hell do you mean as melt down? like your burning your spark plug wires or like melt down as in your burning your motor up, cuz if your headers are so hot they are melting your injectors that are ontop of your intake then there is something ****ed up!!! are you using like a hypertech hand held tuner? cuz if you are i found your problem

No, dude fresh from the factory your car made around 275hp and 285fptq. The torque is MORE important than horsepower, it's the power that moves you, made from rotaiting mass.

I think that website was put out for the newer vehicles that are rated differently. Like on the new Camaro LS3 they say it has 426hp and their only getting 327 of the dyno's at the rear wheel. You have to know how to drive a manual. People with autos just hold the brake and burn the tires up, wow, I have never seen anything more stupid in my life. A clutch can be used to whip around a corner and when shifted properly (not on a dyno) will pull with it's torque far better than any auto could ever dream about!
getting 327 on a dyno has NOTHING to do with knowing how to drive a manual. your car loses horsepower through the tranny and through the rear end...426 is FWHP...327 is RWHP.

you keep bringing up torque when we're talking horsepower.

and you said mods don't add power? then what the hell are you building a 383 for? what the hell did i spend 4800 on a 396 with 415RWHP for?

and as far as auto vs. manual...an auto will be more consistent at the track than a manual. do you wanna argue that too so i can prove you wrong again, or will you just accept that this time?

yeah...you got those numbers right...but at the FLYWHEEL. what don't you understand?

and by your logic, you'd rather have a 500 lb tq car with 100 horsepower than a car with 500 horsepower and 100 torque? the latter would blow your doors off

It just got hot in the header collectors, melted a few wires which is common, and I found a broken ring upon disassembly. I still have all my emissions equipment like egr, air, and cat stuff. Incase you have not noticed we are running a different blend then when your car was made in the ninties. We are running E10 soon to be E15 here and cannot get gasoline. So it takes 17 parts air to one part gasoline and it takes 13 parts air to one part gasohol. Which means more gas/alcohol, more heat produced= less power and fewer emissions.

Actually it depends on the gearing but torque is more important than high revving horsepower to me. If I want some high revving horsepower I just go hop on my GSXR 750 and spinn it to sixteen thousand rpms!

if your running to much fuel u will run a little hotter at the exhaust and yes if u have stuff on the exhaust it will melt. broken ring can be caused by many things, i would think heat is the least of causes. i would suspect improper install first. the computer will make up for gas deficiencies so fuel is of minimal consequence, u will simply burn more fuel.
