how should i upgrade my brakes?
i have a 97 SS with stock brakes on it now. i am looking to upgrade the brakes. should i convert to the LS1 spindles, rotors, calipers and pads for $275 with new stock pads and rotors? or just replace the stock parts with slotted rotors and Z-rated pads for all four corners for $289? the LS1 brake upgrade would look better through the wheel and stop better than the O.E. brakes because the rotors are larger and the calipers are twin piston aluminum , but i think the slotted rotors would give better stopping power and look pretty good for about the same money.
are you going for looks? Slotted rotors aren't really going to do much at all
Just get ceramic pads, and some decent rotors
(where are you getting slotted rotors and pads for $289?)

SSBC (stainless steel brakes corp.) has all four slotted rotors and z-rated pads for $289 through summit racing http://store.summitracing.com/largei...a2350004_w.jpg. i am going for both looks and function , but more toward function. i do some SCCA solo racing in the car and good brakes are a MUST. i'm running in A stock , so the brakes have to be stock size and style , but i can use LS1 brakes because they are production parts, and i can use the SSBC parts because they are stock size.....i would like to use the SSBC kit with LS1 brakes but i think i would be stretching the rules alittle to far.
eh sorry man, like I said before, Slotted rotors are mainly for looks unless your going really fast and need to stop fast, if that is the case, there's nothing more important than your brakes
I've never paid the big bucks for slotted rotors, just going from what I've heard, so try and find someone who has seen the results before and after
