if its misfiring when you let up on the throttle then its probly running rich, if its doing it at throttle up its the opti, crossed wire, bad wire or jumping spark on a wire. maybe a bad valve or mis adjusted rockers if you have worked on it.

it's mostly when I let off the throttle did it some when I punched it gettin on the highway. I jus put my headers on. i thought i put the wores back on correctly. if I didn't it wouldn't start? correct? I didn't touch the opti. I have erg blocked off and no u2 sensors. no other work been done. it was runnin fine before

without 02 sensors your running way rich, that will explain it. the extra fuel is building up in the exhaust and igniting when you let off the throttle. when theres enough fuel in there it will backfire when at a steady throttle as well.

I think you can probably check your opti. With the problems you were having prior to the exhaust work and now the no-start. It sure sounds like an opti.
A cracked block could be the worst thing that might happen in an over heat. That alone wouldn't keep it from starting tho. To check for a cracked block or a blown head gasket, a test can performed to check for hydrocarbons or exhaust gasses in the antifreeze.

check for coolant in the oil, oil in the coolant. do compression test on all cylinders.
