HELP with 95 Z28 Camaro V8

if you have some starting fluid do what 69 is saying and see if it tries to start and run for a second. whats the gas gauge read?

Fuel pump should 'hum' when ign sw is turned to IGN for 2-3 seconds.
Good time to check schrader valve for pressure.
Also check making sure the timing bypass connector - brown/white wire(?) - pass side kick panel is not disconnected.
Also, you may have to perform a base timing check - your manual, if a Haynes, will take you through this procedure, as the manual should also show/tell you how to do a base idle adjustment.

Using WD40 is a little better as it lubes whereas starting fluid cleans off oil lube.

Check fuel pressure or try starting fluid like they said then get back to us. Sounds like a fuel pump. If you have good fuel pressure then its a spark problem.

BTW i recommend using an actual guage cause 15 psi will spray fuel out if you press the schrader in but will not start the car.

FYI, timing is not adjustable on the LT1 as the Optispark distributor goes in properly in only one direction. There are are no timing marks even if it could be adjusted. After you checked for fuel and spark, and If you intend on working on this car you will need a OBD1 scanner equipped with an OBD2 cable, or a scanner that can read both OBD1 and OBD2. In 2005, GM decided to cause confusion by still using a OBD1 PCM while using a connector configured for OBD2. If you do not want to invest on a scanner and you have a laptop, there are programs and interface cables that can emulate a scanner.

Still no success, we have changed all the sensors we could locate on the top end. Tested for spark by pulling a wire, touching the block and no spark. We are thinking that it is the distributor/opti spark, boy howdy does that look like a chore. Thank you for all the help so far. We won't give up!!!!! My son loves this car!!

Before replacing the optispark, which is expensive, have the coil and the ignition control module tested at your local part store. You really should not be throwing parts at a computer controlled car without proper testing. As an aside, if the optispark got wet it will eventually die.

There's a crank case sensor that is pretty tight that can easily get unplugged by accident when you are working in the engine. It's just to the right of the TB (when looking at the car). When this is unplugged it will give the symptoms you are describing. It's a long plastic connector and it can get pulled out by accident easily. Check that first.
